5 Tips on How to Increase Alexa Rank of Your Blog

Alexa ranking is considered a vital point in determining a site’s traffic. I don’t feel it to be that important but there are many people who still consider it to be an important aspect for a blog.

As a result, they try to increase Alexa rank of their blog. But the main problem here is no one can exactly figure out how this Alexa thing really works. There are some blogs that get thousands of visitors a day and their Alexa rank is above 400K whereas there are blogs that get just 200-300 visitors a day and they have Alexa <50K.

How to Increase Alexa Rank of Your Blog?

There are no advanced topics that I am going to discuss here. Each and every tip I will mention here is very easy and quite easy to implement. So don’t think that you won’t be able to do it – you can’t do it only if you think you can’t.

#1. Install Alexa Widget on Your Blog

I don’t find this useful but I have seen some blogs with Alexa widget installed on their blog, have a great Alexa rank. I have tried it on my other blog and it was working fine. You can install the Alexa widget in your blog’s footer if you won’t want many people to have a look at it. I don’t quite support this method, but you can try it out; maybe it can work for you.

#2. Build Quality Backlinks

Building backlinks is one of the most important thing for a blog. Without proper backlinks, a blog won’t rank in search engines, not so easily. The same goes with Alexa ranking.

The backlinks that are indexed by Alexa are mostly the backlinks obtained by blog commenting or links from forums. The backlinks from social networks like Pinterest are also given a higher priority. I have seen the backlinks getting indexed that I got from blog commenting, much faster than any other method. I don’t know if that is true but I experienced it.

So you must work to increase Alexa backlinks for your blog and you might notice a good and positive change in your Alexa rank.

#3. Update Your Blog Regularly

See, I said regularly and not daily. There are many people who think that to increase Alexa rank, you must update your blog on a daily basis which is a complete myth.

Like I said, you don’t need to update your blog daily, but you must update it on a regular basis. Try to prepare a proper schedule and publish posts only at the scheduled time. It doesn’t matter if you are updating once in two days or once a week, but you must stick to that only.

It will not only help Alexa to understand your posting frequency but your blog readers will also know the exact time, when you publish a new post and they can visit your blog at that time. So update your blog on a regular basis to increase Alexa rank of your blog.

#4. Quality Content Always Rules

This should be a no-brainer. You have a blog so you must know the importance of updating your blog with quality content. If you are not giving quality to your readers, you might not get anything.

The quality has always ruled over quality. The best example would be of ViperChill. The blog is one of the best blogs on the Internet. Most of the time there is a 3-months gap between 2 articles but some times there is a 1-month gap, but the quality of the articles coming on the blog is always superior. No matter what, you always get solutions for your problems.

So always try to give out quality content to your readers and don’t worry about quantity. Your readers will appreciate it much.

#5. Go Social and Promote Your Blog

If you are not having a proper social presence then you might be missing out big on rankings. Recently there were reports that Google will now consider social presence also as a metric for ranking, and the same goes with Alexa as well.

Try to be present on all the leading social platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest and LinkedIn and find like-minded people. Share your contents with them but don’t spam. Once you have uploaded your blog post, share it with your friends and followers via different social networks.

You could even install a social sharing plugin on your blog so that your visitors could also give you a helping hand in getting your posts to a wider audience.

Ditto on #4. I think that is the BEST way to not only improve your Alexa ranking, but to have a good quality site that will rank in the search engines. Google tricks may work in the short term, but great content will keep bringing REAL people back. As far as Alexa goes, I see it as a competition, more of an ego boost than anything else. Thoughts?
