Google Adsense program is like a boon for many bloggers and is helping them in making money from their blogs and sites. It is so popular today that people are creating blogs just to get approved by Google Adsense and start making money from it. There is nothing wrong with it but the problem arises when you application gets rejected by Google Adsense.
Before going in the topic of the things that you should take care of before you apply for Google Adsense, I would like to point out one thing that Adsense isn’t the only thing that could make you money. There are many other income streams like affiliate marketing, sponsored reviews and various other methods, so depending completely on Google Adsense might be a big mistake. Another thing is that even if you get your application approved by Google Adsense, it doesn’t mean that you will start making money from it. I got approved in November last year, but received my first payment this month only. It took me a whole year to reach the threshold for getting paid.
7 Things to do Before Applying for Google Adsense
1. Quality Content
The first thing that Google Adsense looks in a blog is whether the content is good enough and targeted for their advertisers or not. If the content on your blog is not of proper quality, then your application might get rejected within hours. So the first thing that you need to do is choose a proper niche and focus on writing high quality content on your site. Be sure to write around 40-50 posts at least before applying for Google Adsense.
2. High Quality SEO
SEO is like a backbone to your blog. If you haven’t done proper SEO, then you might be losing out on your chances to improve search engine rankings of your blog. If you write high quality content but not enough people are getting the benefits from it then its of no use. So be sure to get some high quality dofollow backlinks from popular blogs. The best method to do so would be guest posts and blog commenting as you will get proper backlinks as well as targeted audience.

4. About/Contact Page
Not having an About Us page or a Contact Page on your blog is a big mistake. With the use of these pages, not only will your readers will be able to get in touch with you but it will also help in getting approval by Adsense program. You should take care of one thing that both these pages have your email mentioned and maybe even your name that you use to apply for the program. I don’t know if it really helps or not by what’s wrong in adding an email address in the About and Contact pages of your blog.
5. Clean Design
You should focus more on keeping your blog’s design as clean as possible. There are many people who think that the more the ads on your site, the more the earnings will be. Believe me, this is not the scenario. Stuffing your blog with ads of too many networks will only act against you when you are applying for Google Adsense. And also don’t think that removing the ads just when you are submitting your application will help. No that won’t as Google has all your site’s web pages cached with them so don’t try to act smart with them. Keep your site’s design clean from the very beginning.
6. Top Level Domain
Many people create a blog with blogspot domain thinking that it will help in the approval process. But that’s not true. Even if you apply from within the blogger dashboard and get approved with it, it would be a hosted Google Adsense account and you won’t be able to use the ads on other blogs except that particular blog. My advice to you would be to invest some money in getting a top-level domain for your blog. It doesn’t matter if you use the top-level domain to create a blog with blogger platform or WordPress. So get a top-level domain, build a blog, publish high quality content and do effective SEO and you are all good to go.
7. Don’t Sell Links
Link selling is one thing that Google hates a lot. There are instances when Google has banned some of the big sites completely from the search results because they were selling too many links on their blogs. Publishing reviews and selling links is not wrong if the links are relevant to your content and done moderately. But going out of your way and selling links to whatsoever site and selling too many links will make you money for some time, but in the long run you won’t be able to generate enough money. This is one thing that will get your application rejected within moments.
